I was introduced to the local community of photography aficionados today by James Wong, a business acquaintance from his days doing Business Development at Motorola, who has been posting fantastic shots of birds in flight etc on his facebook.

There is a reason why things are priced at a certain price. Once I determined that 600mm was the focal length that I needed for the zoom lens in order to get clear enough shots at reasonable standoff distances, I found that lenses of that focal length easily cost 800-1000 SGD, which was something I was not willing to pay. Looking for alternatives, I ran into technical issues when I tried to extend my photo "reach" to 600mm region using alternate means of a 2X extender. Here's what happened.
